Conveyor
Belt is the material carrying part of the handling process. Generally speaking,
it is looped endlessly over rollers and terminal pulleys that rotate and move
the belt. The belt could be of any length that is necessary for a specific
application.
Conveyor Belts are usually wide belts attached to
countless loops that can be used to move materials from place to another. It is
usually attached to turning rotors which are powered by electric motors. These
wide belts are made of various layers of rubber. One layer of rubber gives
shape to the belt whereas the other layer facilitates simple transportation.
Belt is
manufactured by embedding the reinforcing material - textile, canvas, nylon, Steel
Cord Conveyor Belts, or a combination of them - in polymer slabs,
usually rubber, & vulcanizing it. To a great extent, the number & type
of plies (layers of reinforcing materials) are major factors that choose the
strength of the belt.
There are
various types of Conveyor Belts. Heavy belts are used to move materials in a
coal mine and light duty belts are used in food processing units. The rubber
belts are designed in specific sizes for different makes use of. It is operated
in various speed rates according to the specific makes use of.
Different Uses of Conveyor Belts
Manufacturing industry: It is widely used in various
manufacturing industries to move materials in to different processing unit. It
takes the manufactured products out of the processing units. It is used in food
processing plants to move cooking products, seal the food products and at last
pack the products.
Shopping malls: It also finds wide application in
shopping malls as it is used in walkalator or moving walkways. Walkalator is
also present in most of the airports to move people from place to another.
Bakeries & grocery shops: Slow moving conveyor belts are used
in bakeries so as to move the food through an oven for cooking purposes. It is
used in grocery shops to move items to the counter.
Airports: Today most of the airports also use
these rubber belts to deliver baggage to the customers.
Ware houses: Conveyor belts are also used in ware
houses to load outgoing trucks or to offload various heavy materials from the
trucks.
Heavy industries: These rubber belts are also used in
various heavy industries to move raw materials from place to another. It can
transport materials either in a straight line or through elevation &
directional changes.
Escalators: one of the most widely used forms of
this rubber belt is the escalators. It is used in most of the departmental
stores to move people from floor to another.
Conveyor Belts are often used in public
transportation systems, ware houses, factories & grocery stores. It helps
to convey products & raw materials from place to another with the use of
mounts in the belt or due to frictional force. In the earlier days, workers
used to travel from place to another to move raw materials & products.
